Christmas burglary awareness warning

Dear residents of Bilston and East Park,

Christmas is upon us and it's nice to see all the lovely decorations up when on my evening patrols. Everyone is out buying presents and the festive atmosphere is growing each day.

On this note I'd like to provide a little crime prevention advice. Please try your best not to leave your presents on display near to front windows due to certain criminals who may be looking out for the opportunity to sus when someone is out, seek a weak spot or  a chance to break into your property.

I know this is unlikely to happen but it has in the past and ruined what should be a lovely Christmas.

Also while out shopping please look out for pick pockets or opportunist thieves, make sure your purses and wallets are safely in a jacket or a garment with a zip making it difficult for anyone to steal, or if you have a panic alarm keep it with you.

I 'm not out to scare people, just help and remind you there are opportunist thieves out there looking to either burgle someone's house or steal from them.
