Public Appeal - Livestock Safety

This is an appeal to all road users to reduce speeds and take more care when driving in poor light or weather in our rural areas. Unfortunately in the past few days we have had to respond to ponies having been struck and killed on rural roads. Animals which freely roam moorland will stay closer to roads due to heat from the road attracting them. 

Regarding one of this weeks incidents a driver is being reported for consideration of prosecution for driving standard offences. 

It is a legal requirement for you to report to Police if you have been involved in a collision with any Cattle, Horses (or ponies), Asses or mules, Pigs, Sheep, Dogs or Goats.
