Dear Resident
A man has been jailed after he was caught attempting to break into a house in #Tring. At around 5pm 28 October police received a call stating that a man had been seen on a home CCTV camera system in the back garden of a property, with a brick in his hand. The man fled when the security alarm was activated remotely by the homeowner. Around the same time, police received a second call reporting a nearby home had been broken into and jewellery items had been stolen. Officers from the constabulary’s Mobile Scorpion Team conducted searches of the area and a man matching the description was spotted near Hemel Hempstead train station a short time later. He was swiftly arrested, discarding several items of jewellery in the process. The jewellery was recovered by detectives from the Dacorum Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who then progressed the case. Lewis Barrington-Keys, aged 29, of Swift Close in #LetchworthGardenCity, was subsequently charged with burglary and attempted burglary and remanded into custody. He appeared before St Albans Crown Court on Thursday 27 November where he pleaded guilty to both offences. He was sentenced to 28 months’ imprisonment, with a further four months for activating a suspended sentence order.
