I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti Social Behaviour, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Neighbourhood Policing Team have been busy yet again this week, catching criminals, detecting/preventing crime and hosting local events to speak to members of the public surrounding issues that you may face in Stevenage.
Future updates will also cover 9 Yards in addition to Stevenage Town Centre. This is due to the Safer Town Centre Initiative covering both areas of interest and it also means more updates to pass over in relation to the hard work put in by officers.
An Anti-Social Behaviour stand was set up on 03/12/2025 at 9 Yards and was used to speak to members of the public regarding issues they are currently facing, to provide crime prevention advise as well as encourage people to report any crimes to Police. Whilst at this Anti-Social Behaviour stand, a male approached Police, ironically whilst acting Anti-Social. Police dealt with the suspect at scene and walked him back to the suspects car. Upon doing checks at the vehicle, it was found out that the male had driven to 9 Yards illegally as he had no insurance on the car. The car was seized at scene and the suspect had to walk home. Bye bye car and bye bye licence.
A woman was arrested in Stevenage Town Centre for shoplifting by Neighbourhood Policing team had spotted the wanted female in the area. Due to their hard work, the female was charged and remanded to court for 17/12/2025.
A male was arrested at TESCO for robbery and other offences by Neighbourhood Policing Team. The suspect is currently being dealt with for various offences.
On 06/12/2025, plain clothed Police officers were patrolling 9 Yards and Stevenage Town Centre in order to detect crime and catch criminals as a part of Op Enthral. The officers came up with some good results due to not being in uniform which are listed below;
X3 people were arrested for affray when an altercation occurred by Starbucks. X2 males were stopped and searched for cannabis. Both searches came back positive for cannabis and both offenders have completed community resolutions. A male was arrested for failure to appear as he was already wanted and has been dealt with.
In order to deal with high volumes of crime effectively, Police have attended 9 Yards and Stevenage Town Centre shops and have handed out letters regarding crime reporting and collection of evidence. This was done so that stores can report more crime and know what to provide Police before we attend. This will help detect and catch more criminals which should lead to more charges and better service provided.
Police had attended a Common Assault at SCS, 9 Yards after a call came in regarding a verbal altercation. The incident was dealt with swiftly as well as the offender.
Op Hotspot continues this December with officers, PCSO's and SGT's all giving up their rest days and extending their shifts in order to conduct more proactive patrols. Op Hotspot has seen some brilliant results with more to come in the future. We thank the officers for giving up their time to keep members of the public safe.
We look forward to providing more updates in the coming weeks surrounding great work that our officers have completed.
 Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: - civil injunctions.
- criminal behaviour orders.
- public spaces protection orders.
- community protection notices.
- dispersal powers.
- closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.herts.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
