Under Operation Baselife, we have had a number of specialist police units working alongside the local teams in combating crime in the West End. 2 recent examples of some of the great work from the TSG in tackling our drug related issues are highlighted below: Uniform 22 started night duty strong with 2 arrests for possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs with a smorgasbord of controlled substances recovered. Whilst on patrol, Officers in an unmarked police car noticed a vehicle travelling at speed through the West End. What started as a 'routine stop' to discuss manner of driving quickly descended into a vehicle seizure for no insurance and other traffic offences. On searching the vehicle Officers found a variety of Class A and B drugs concealed within. Uniform 23 had another productive night duty posting in the West End. U223 saw up a suspicious male driving a car in the West End, grounds were formulated for a search under Section 1 of PACE where a joint of cannabis was found. The Officers dogged determination and not being satisfied with the males responses to questions, a more thorough search of the vehicle uncovered several hundred pounds in cash, 33 individual bags of cannabis and 3 boxes of cannabis vapes. The male occupant was swiftly arrested having just been released from prison for possession with intent to supply Class A.These incidents and arrests highlight that we have amazing professional proactive Police Officers, working hard to keep the West End community safeā¦.the right people, in the right place at the right time!
