Planning on going away for Christmas? Make sure to leave your home safe while you’re away.
– Leave a light on Burglars will look for visible signs that your house is unoccupied. Set a light on a timer to turn on at night, leave a car in the driveway, and keep your curtains drawn.
– Lock away any tools This not only protects your shed if you have one, but also prevents burglars from using your own tools to assist them in breaking in. Ladders, hammers, etc can all aid a criminal and should be kept under lock and key.
– Be careful on social media Like the last point, be aware that some burglars will search social media to see if people post about being away, and then hit their houses. Save up the Christmas pictures for when you return
– Burglar Alarm Ensure your burglar alarm is on and working, and that the outside bell is visible to any potential burglars from the street.
– CCTV Having cameras can not only provide us with valuable footage, but they can act as an obvious deterrent to keep your home safe.
– Locked up Keep all exterior windows and doors closed and locked.
