Telephone scams |
||
|
Hi everyone,
Following a visit I made this afternoon to a victim of telephone fraud this is just a quick alert to remind you to stay alert for telephone scams, which continue to catch people out with increasingly convincing tactics.
Common warning signs include:
Unexpected calls claiming to be from your bank, HMRC, the police, or another official organisation
Pressure to act quickly or keep the call secret
Requests for passwords, security codes, or banking details
Instructions to move money, make unusual payments, or buy vouchers
If you receive a suspicious call:
Don’t give out any personal or financial information
Hang up immediately
If you’re uncertain, look up the official number of the organisation and call them back independently
If you think you’ve been a victim of a scam: Please report it to Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime. You can contact them online or by calling 0300 123 2040.
Reporting incidents helps protect others.
Stay cautious, and thanks for taking the time to keep yourself and others safe.
Regards,
