reckless cycling

On Friday 12th December your ward team responding to the concerns of local residents conducted an operation focused on dangerous cycling on the Cathedral Piazza and nearby streets. This has been an increasing problem in recent months with growing concerns for the safety of pedestrians. In collaboration with officers from the Met's Safer Transport Team we deployed in numbers to achieve a significant deterrence. During the operation we spoke to dozens of cyclists and scooter riders to warn them about reckless cycling. Riding through red lights, mounting the pavement and not having the correct lighting are all offences which can result in £50 Fixed Penalty Notices. We understand this problem is a real concern for many local residents and we are determined to redouble our efforts to curb it.
