Passive drugs dog

Earlier in the week the Neighbourhood Team and police youth intervention officer PC Hawken were assisted by police dog handler PC Waters in an event at Fowey Academy.

PC Waters has a fox red Labrador called Skye who is a passive drugs dog who is trained to indicate to those who may be in the possession or close contact with controlled drugs.

A number of classes were visited with Skye checking pupils and their bags.

The visit was supported by Fowey Academy and not completed in regards to specific information about drug possession. It was completed for educational and deterrent purposes and to ensure that the academy remains a safe and supportive environment for pupils and staff.

Skye was also well received by the academy who made her feel very welcome!
