Neighbourhood officers have been out patrolling in Middleton town centre to deter/prevent shoplifting offences in the run up to Christmas.

Today 14th December a  shoplifter has been arrested for making off without payment and has  been dealt with accordingly.

Shoplifting significantly impacts retailers, consumers, and communities.

Retailers face financial losses, increased security cost, and potential store closures.

Handling stolen goods is a criminal offence and can carry a maximum sentence of up to fourteen years.
