Fireworks Information and Regulations
Over the past week, the Stroud Neighbourhood Policing Team have been contacted about a large fireworks display that took place in a residential property within the Chalford/Bussage area.
This caused a lot of upset and distress within the local community, as well as communities further out due to the scale of the display.
If you are planning on holding any private fireworks displays over the festive period, please be aware of the following:
- Fireworks are not to be set off between the hours of 11pm and 7am. This is with the exceptions of specific celebrations such as (not limited to) bonfire night and Chinese New Year. See Fireworks Regulations 2004 for more exceptions. - Any fireworks planned to be set off after this time, must get a license from the local district council. - Fireworks should not be sold or be in the possession of anyone under the age of 18 years old. - Fireworks can only be sold by licensed suppliers. - For any complaints regarding firework displays, contact the local authority council (Stroud District Council) and speak to the environmental health department. - For more guidance look at the Fireworks Regulations 2004
We would suggest letting immediate neighbours know of any fireworks related plans due to animal welfare and triggers of loud noises. It is good to be a considerate neighbour.
In regards to the display that is referred to at the start, the local PCSO has contacted the council who have agreed it is their incident to deal with and are fully aware of the circumstances. |
