ON THE NINTH DAY & TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS TO AVOID A SCAMMER TRICKING ME NOTTS POLICE FRAUD TEAM SENT THIS MESSAGE AS A PLEA
9 If fraud is in progress don’t hesitate to contact 999. Examples would be if the fraudster is present, if there is an immediate risk of harm, if you are being pressured or expecting someone to attend to collect monies, cards or other high value items.
10 BE ATTENTIVE: This is now a busy time to buy online and fraudsters know it - learn how to protect yourself from fraudsters by staying vigilant and taking a moment to stop and think. Are you at risk? Criminals create fake websites and target social media, auction sites and marketplaces, selling poor-quality or non-existent items. They also impersonate delivery companies, sending links to fraudulent websites to steal your money, personal details or infect your device. They can even ‘spoof’ the mobile number, so it appears from a genuine contact or supplier.
If you believe you have been a victim of fraud, please contact Report Fraud, 101 or submit an online report so we can determine how best to proceed.
