Man, 34, jailed for Totton non-dwelling burglary |

A 34-year-old New Forest man has been jailed for 30 weeks after he admitted forcing entry to, and stealing items from an outbuilding at AFC Totton on Salisbury Road. Steven Frederick Michael Scaum, of no fixed abode, was sentenced when he appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (16 December). In addition to the non-dwelling burglary offence, Scaum also pleaded guilty the taking of a vehicle without the owner’s consent and six shopliftings. The burglary occurred in the early hours of the morning on Thursday 20 November. Scaum broke into a storage shed and then stole tools from within. On Sunday 4 May, Scaum entered an address on Bramble Close, Holbury. He then stole keys from the property which he used to take a vehicle that didn’t belong to him. The vehicle was subsequently recovered. The shopliftings occurred between October and December at Tesco Express, Langdown Lawn, Hythe, Tesco, Beaulieu Road, Dibden and One Stop, Fairview Parade, Hythe.
