Residential burglary can happen quickly, but there are simple steps you can take to reduce the risk: Here Are Some Tips For Your Home: Lock up: Always lock doors and windows, even when you’re at home or in the garden.Keep valuables out of sight: Avoid leaving items like laptops, phones, or car keys near windows or doors.Use lights wisely: Leave a light on or use timer switches when you’re out to make your home look occupied.Secure your garden: Lock sheds and garages, and keep ladders or tools out of reach—they can be used to break in.Check your locks: Consider upgrading to British Standard locks for doors and windows.Neighbourhood watch: Look out for each other. Report anything suspicious to the police immediately. If you see something unusual, call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
