A woman was arrested following a collision on the A14 near Ipswich, where a car was reported to have driven in the wrong direction.
Police were called at just after 8.30pm on Wednesday 17 December, to reports of a collision on the westbound carriageway between junction 54 for Sproughton & junction 53 for Whitehouse.
A white Mini One was reported to have been driving eastbound on the westbound carriageway and was then involved in a collision with a grey Peugeot 208. An HGV was also damaged in the incident.
A 59-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving and then later further arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. She currently remains in hospital for treatment having sustained fractured ribs.
The driver of the Peugeot was also taken to hospital for a check-up but did not sustain any serious injuries.
The westbound carriageway was closed until 10.10pm, when one lane reopened, with the road fully reopening by 10.50pm. The eastbound carriageway was also closed for a short time, reopening at 9.20pm.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
