New Year Message |
||
|
As we welcome the New Year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on 2025 and thank all our residents and partners in Hackney for their continued support over the past twelve months. Working together, we’ve made significant strides in keeping our borough safe.
Over the last year, your local Neighbourhood Teams have worked tirelessly, to reduce crimes such as burglary, robbery and Business retail crime. These reductions are a direct result of dedicated policing, community engagement and the willingness of residents and businesses to share information and stand with us against those who cause harm within our communities. Your cooperation has made a measurable difference.
However, we also recognise that there is more work to do. Burglary remains a priority for us, and we are focusing additional resources, visibility, and intelligence‑led operations to address this.
Areas such as Shoreditch and Dalston continue to require sustained attention, and we are already implementing strengthened patrol strategies, long‑term problem‑solving initiatives, and increased partnership work alongside Hackney Council and other organisations to make these locations safer places to live, work and visit.
We have also committed to deployments of Live Facial Recognition, using up to date technology to arrest those wanted for crimes or where offenders have failed to attend court, making us more precise and focussed. Since July 2024 there have been 87 arrests across deployments in Shoreditch, Dalston and Hackney Central. 2026 will also see further deployments.
Counter Terrorism remains a global focus, we recognise the impact this has on communities and we will continue to provide reassurance and presence across our communities within Hackney.
As we move into the new year, our commitment to reducing crime and anti‑social behaviour remains strong. We will continue listening to your concerns and work collaboratively to tackle the issues that matter most to our residents and business owners.
On behalf of all Hackney Neighbourhood officers, I wish you and your families a safe and peaceful New Year. Thank you for your continued trust and support.
