Local Priorities Shoplifting Concern Update |
Dear Resident, Thank you for taking the local priority survey recently, we note that you highlighted Shoplifting in the survey so we wanted to provide you with an update on this local matter. There have been many ward panel meetings where Shoplifting has been a main topic of discussion over the last year. We have been working with surrounding Ward's Safer Neighbourhood Teams and shopkeepers to identify and arrest those identified for prolific shoplifting in the area. This work appears to have had an effect as you can see by the graph below. Local shops play a big role in the community as they’re some of the most dynamic and accessible places in the city. A place that can become as familiar as your home. As such we want to make sure these areas are protected throughout all hours of the day and night. If you notice anything suspicious or witness anyone shoplifting, please report it as soon as possible. These reports are invaluable in letting us build a picture of when and where shop lifters operate, meaning we can be in the right place at the right time to arrest those responsible.
For more guidance, see our page on how to spot a shoplifter.
We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years. | ||
