I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Dear Residents,
Phone theft targets shoppers through snatch and run tactics by thieves on e-bikes or scooters and table swiping in cafes:
-Look up.Look Out: maintain constant awareness of your surroundings especially busy roads where thieves may mount the pavement to grab phones from pedestrians.
-Concealment- store your phones in a zipped inner pocket or a crossbody bag worn under your jacket. never keep it in a back pockets or open bags where it is easily accessible.
Table Swipe- Never leave your phone unattended on a cafe or restaurant tables. Thieves can snatch them in seconds sometimes using a distraction like newspaper to cover device before grabbing it.
