Chiswick NPT Update |
||
|
Happy New Year from Chiswick NPT!!! We hope you all had an enjoyable festive period. We were of course hard at work to reduce crime across Chiswick through December. Some of our work included- Working with the local churches to deal with a very problematic homeless male who has a Criminal Behaviour Order not to enter religious premises due to his behaviour. He was arrested for breaching his CBO and has been remanded to prison for sentencing. A prolific Chiswick shoplifter who last year we closed his address and moved him from Chiswick, we identified for an offence of around £1000 shoplifting. He was arrested for this as well as other offences and has been remanded to prison, we have applied for a CBO for him as well and have a hearing this month to hopefully get it granted. We arrested three separate persons including one Burglar for breaching their sentence conditions, all remanded and sent to court. We conducted a Violence Against Woman and Girls(VAWG) event on a Friday evening in the run up to Christmas, this included high visibility patrols, plain clothes behaviour detection officers and a VAWG stall outside M&S giving crime prevention advice and handing out anti spiking drink covers. Along with the Chiswick teams we were joined by other officers from Hounslow as well various members of Hounslow council including the community safety team. We also had licencing officers visit the local pubs to ensure that they were aware of signs to look out for on spiking and if the staff are trained in ‘Ask for Angela’ Home - Ask For Angela During the VAWG event we had seen two balaclava wearing males circling on a single high powered eBike who we suspected may be looking to snatch phones. A helpful motorist informed us of their location and we managed to ambush them, taking them off their eBike to be searched. Unfortunately for us we did not have enough grounds to arrest them for offences, unfortunately for the driver the eBike was classed as a motorcycle and so he will be getting summons to court for various driving offences. As part of Operation Automotive targeting vehicle crime we conducted a plain clothes tasking. Whilst in a vehicle crime hotspot we spotted two males wearing balaclavas on high powered eBikes looking into cars with torches. One of them managed to slip away but PC Storey and myself managed to wrestle the other male to the floor as he tried to escape on his 62mph eBike! He was searched and then arrested for going equipped to steal as well as driving offences with enquiries ongoing. I also reported a few months ago about a male and female who were removing security tags in an alleyway in Chiswick. We stop and searched them and recovered over £2000 of stolen clothing from a shop on the High Road. At the time we thought both had received a suspended sentence, however this was only the female and PC Grist was recently required to attend court for the male. Darren STEVENSON (48 years old from Isleworth) was sentenced to 12 months in prison. This is an excellent result and sends a message to other shoplifters that we will arrest and pursue them through the courts. We will continue this year to target key crime types and offenders, looking to reduce crime and make Chiswick as safe a place to live as possible. Many thanks Sgt O’Donnell
