Police Chase Custom House

Yesterday (8th Jan) You may have heard the wailing of sirens and the buzz of a hovering helicopter high above Custom House.

Two males were seen approaching a vehicle in Prince Regent Lane, where an exchange took place with the driver. Suspecting a drug deal, officers moved in to stop the car, the driver rammed a police vehicle and made off at speed.

The suspect vehicle sped onto Victoria Dock Road, before turning into Munday Road, weaving dangerously through the residential streets of Custom House. The vehicle mounted the pavement in Freemasons Road and collided with a van in Jude Street, placing pedestrians and other road users at serious risk….But the chase was far from over.

The pursuit continued into Tower Hamlets, where the driver, still desperate to escape, reversed into another police vehicle in a final attempt to evade capture.

After an intense 13-minute pursuit, officers successfully brought the vehicle to a stop on the A102, bringing the chase to an end without any injuries.

The suspect was arrested for drugs offences, along with multiple serious driving offences.
