Community Update

Road Safety & Traffic Enforcement – East Leicester

PC 2003 Woolley is currently delivering a targeted road traffic project across East Leicester, supported by neighbourhood policing teams. This work is focused on improving road safety, reducing harm, and addressing common road traffic offences that place drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists at risk.

As part of this project, the East Leicester Facebook page will be used to post regular updates and educational content. These posts are designed to:

Raise awareness of common road safety issues

Explain key road traffic offences in plain language

Highlight why these offences are dangerous

Reinforce that enforcement action will be taken when offences are witnessed

This approach combines education and enforcement, ensuring drivers understand both the law and the reasons behind it.

What the Project Involves

High-visibility patrols on key routes within East Leicester

Monitoring of known problem areas and community-identified locations

Enforcement action for offences witnessed, including tickets and reports for summons where appropriate

Online engagement through Facebook to educate drivers before, during and after enforcement activity

The priority is not punishment, but preventing collisions, injuries and fatalities by improving driver behaviour.
