Local Priorities Speeding Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Speeding, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Due to recent reports and concerns regarding speeding, we would like to inform the residents of Upper Cwmbran that your local PCSO conducted routine speeding checks yesterday afternoon on Thornhill Road, where there is a certain designated 20 MPH zone. Over 350 vehicles were monitored, revealing that 79 vehicles were travelling slightly over the 20 MPH limit. Notably, a further 38 vehicles were recorded exceeding speeds of 24 MPH and above.

This is a crucial reminder that a part of Thornhill Road is a 20 MPH area, particularly due to the proximity of a primary school. The safety of our community, especially our children, is of utmost importance.

Please be advised that regular speed checks will be conducted due to the number of reports/concerns that has recently been raised to your local PCSOs. We are doing this to ensure compliance with traffic regulations as well as people's safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping to keep our roads safe.
