Good Morning residents of Hartshead Estate,
You may be already aware from Facebook social media groups of a male trying car doors in the early hours of this morning (13/01/2026).
We have a had a number of reports, but I believe there will be more offences to report as these types of crimes often go un-recorded due to victims being unaware that they have had an offence committed against them.
It would seem that the offender was carrying a knife, after a resident had chased the male and he threatened the male. This is a stark reminder to always put your safety first and report these types of incidents.
If someone attempts to gain entry (pulls on the door handle) but doesn't gain entry, the an offence of Vehicle Interference has occurred.If someone does gain entry into your vehicle but doesn't steal anything, an offence of Vehicle Interference has occurred.If someone gains entry into your vehicle and does steal items from within it, then an offence of Theft From Motor Vehicle has occurred.Please check your CCTV systems or Doorbell Cameras.
We have reports of this male on the lower section of the estate from around 2:00am to 04:30am but he could have been all over the estate.
We currently have reported incidents on Nottingham Drive and Glendon Crescent.
The offender is described as;
White male, 30's, scruffy beard, 5ft 8in, black puffa jacket, short balding dark hair.
