New local policing priorities set for your area

New local policing priorities set for Dacorum

Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) across Dacorum have set their new local policing priorities for the coming months.

NPTs work alongside partners to focus on solving long and short-term neighbourhood issues, such as anti-social behaviour, theft, speeding and drug-related crime.

Using an analysis of data, they set local policing priorities every four months, to provide a specific focus on the issues which are currently causing the most concern. Feedback from members of the public also plays a vital part.

Residents will see their dedicated team of PCs and PCSOs across Dacorum working alongside partners to address the issues, through an increased police presence, engagement events and targeted enforcement.

During the last period, the following priorities were addressed:

Hemel North, West and Central

Tackle anti-social behaviour in Hemel Hempstead town centre.

Regular patrols and engagement events have been carried out.

Additional CCTV cameras have been installed thanks to Op Hotspot funding.

A police crime prevention workshop was held in the Marlowes shopping centre. The aim was to promote the support that is available to town centre businesses, retailers and the public under the Safer Town Centre initiative.

Arrests have been made in connection with shopliftings and jail sentences have been secured.

Officers joined colleagues from the Child Criminal Exploitation Team to host an advice session for young people during Freshers' Week at West Herts College. They spoke about general safety, as well as ASB and the dangers of carrying a knife.

Community engagement events have been held at several locations to allow residents to speak with local officers.

Reduce fly-tipping in the north area.

Local farmers have been spoken to, to pass on advice.

Officers are working with Dacorum Borough Council.

Reports have reduced over the last period and the issue continues to be monitored.

Address anti-social behaviour and speeding in the west area.

Several Safer Streets events have been held across the locality to allow residents to discuss the issues and complete surveys.

The following priorities have been agreed for the coming three months:

Speeding along main routes and surrounding villages.

Address anti-social behaviour in Marlowes and the Riverside shopping centre.

Address vehicle related anti-social behaviour between Stoneycroft and Rossgate shops.

Whilst there will be a focus on the local priorities, officers will continue to respond to daily business as usual, as well as force wide priorities and any emerging issues which require more immediate action.

It’s not just your local Neighbourhood Policing Team keeping Dacorum safe. We also have:

Officers responding to emergencies

Detectives investigating crimes like burglary and assault

Specialist units tackling issues such as domestic abuse and acquisitive crime

Plus, support from countywide teams when needed.
