Afternoon all. Another busy day today.
We started with a resident visit for a suspected burglary, but unfortunately it was what we call NRRK (No Reply, Repeated Knocking). We'll pop back again to continue the investigation tomorrow.
Then it was off to “Sausage Watch” where we park outside Greggs and stop people helping themselves to pastries, among other things. (It's a preventative effort for all the shops locally and parking there gives us a base for whatever occurs… More on that later.) We spoke to a few people about parking in the loading bay which was a mostly accepted, as it is a red route and clearly says “no stopping at any time!” After telling far too many people not to park illegally, it was off to hunt our most wanted, a regular offender who is on the prowl. We will get him. We will! This was interrupted by an urgent call to assist someone shouting in their home. Luckily all was well, and no one was in need of us. Just a case of loud voices.
We did a street a week to get more people signed up to Met Engage, which we are still falling short on to be blatantly honest. (If you can get anyone interested, it would be very helpful! Please could you get them to email me and I'll d the honours).
Then… CCTV called for us. And we answered. A group of youths smoking drugs in Morden Town Centre. We were on the case, catching most as they “starbursted” from the area. No real drugs found, and some strong words of advice given. It's important at these times to try and build bridges with the youth community, to stop further offending and more drug taking. We hoped we got through to them, but if not, we'll keep trying.
Back to the office to top and tail any paperwork left over and then wash, rinse, repeat, again tomorrow!
