Fake police telephone scam |
||
|
There have been a number of recent courier fraud reports in your area. Criminals, posing as police officers from London, are making telephone calls to local residents. The victims are deceived into handing over cash, purportedly as part of a covert police investigation. The criminals state they are calling from either Hammersmith or Holborn police station, and work for the Metropolitan Police or Action Fraud. After tricking victims into obtaining cash or foreign currency, the criminals then send a purported “police courier” to collect these items from the victim's address. The police will never ask you to hand over cash or other valuables in this way. For further advice on keeping safe, please visit the government's Stop Think Fraud advice pages.
