Incident outside ASDA today (23/01)

Good evening, 

I hope you are all well. I dealt with an incident outside ASDA in Rushden today where a vehicle was stopped and the driver was over the limit for alcohol. This occurred at 3pm, and there were several schoolchildren in the area on their way home, many of whom will have witnessed the incident and may have been distressed as a result. 

I want to reassure everyone that the incident was isolated. Members of the public reported the driver had been drinking, and he was subsequently stopped and arrested. The dangers of drink driving are clear, and the driver presented a serious risk to pedestrians and other road users. Thankfully, members of the public informed us and we were able to get the driver off the street before any serious harm could be caused. 

The driver has since been charged and will appear in court next month. I will update you all with the result from court once I have it.
