Westcotes Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Update
The Westcotes Neighbourhood Policing Team has continued proactive work throughout the past week, balancing community engagement, targeted patrols, and operational commitments to address local concerns and improve safety across the beat area.
Beat Surgeries PCSOs held scheduled beat surgeries, providing residents with the opportunity to speak directly with their local neighbourhood officers. These sessions allowed concerns to be raised, intelligence to be shared, and advice to be given in relation to ongoing neighbourhood issues. Information gathered during these surgeries helps shape future patrol plans and policing priorities.
CCTV Enquiries – City Centre PCSOs assisted with a number of CCTV enquiries within the city centre, supporting investigative work by identifying evidential footage and progressing active lines of enquiry. This work is essential in helping to identify offenders and support positive outcomes for victims.
Plain Clothes Patrols Plain clothes patrols were conducted across the beat area to disrupt criminal activity, identify suspicious behaviour, and gather intelligence. These patrols complement uniformed policing by targeting issues that may not be immediately visible and help prevent offences before they occur.
Anti-Social Behaviour Patrols Targeted patrols were carried out in areas identified as ASB hotspots. Officers engaged with individuals causing concern, provided reassurance to residents, and took appropriate action where necessary. Patrols were timed to address peak periods of reported ASB.
Front Enquiry Office (FEO) Cover PCSOs provided cover at the Front Enquiry Office, ensuring the public continued to have access to face-to-face police support. This included dealing with enquiries, providing advice, and supporting victims and members of the community attending the station.
Fatal 4 Road Safety Operations The team supported Fatal 4 operations focusing on the four main causes of serious and fatal road traffic collisions. Officers engaged with road users, carried out enforcement where required, and worked to raise awareness around safer driving behaviours.
Arrested on Warrant During proactive patrols, officers located and arrested an individual who was wanted on warrant. The arrest removed a wanted person from the community and allowed outstanding matters to be progressed.
The Westcotes Neighbourhood Policing Team remains committed to being visible, proactive, and responsive, working closely with residents and partner agencies to address concerns and keep the area safe.
