Fraud Alert |
||
|
Dear members,
Please be aware that we have received a number of reports in recent days in relation to individuals calling residents and claiming to be Police Officers, this has been across the Chiswick, Brentford and Osterley areas. They are stating things like a suspect being in custody and their cards have been found or fraudulent transactions have been made on their account. The suspects then use a range of tactics to obtain money or valuables from the victim.
The victims in these cases tend to be elderly, often living alone and end up handing over large sums of money or goods. If you have elderly friends, relatives or neighbours then please tell them to be extremely careful when receiving calls from persons claiming to be from the Police or the Bank. Importantly make sure they are aware that Police will NEVER ask them to withdraw/transfer money or goods in an attempt to catch criminals. If you or anyone you know receives such calls then it should be reported to ‘Report Fraud’. Action Fraud has been renamed as Report Fraud
Please see a few resources below to protect you and others from potential fraudsters: Download The Little Book of Big Scams to find out more. The Little Book of Big Scams audio version is also available.
Many thanks Sgt O’Donnell 164WA Chiswick NPT | ||
