Officers from NYP Rural Task Force are investigating the blocking of a badger sett in the area of Caldwell which occurred around lunchtime on Friday 23rd January 2026. Note **Interfering with a badger sett is a criminal offence in the UK under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, carrying penalties of up to six months in prison and unlimited fines. It is illegal to damage, destroy, or obstruct access to a sett, or disturb badgers while they are inside. Activities like development, fencing, or gardening near a sett require a special license.
