From One Of Our Community Groups "Dear Community Friend, On Friday, 6 February, from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm, The Reggae Tree in Harlesden. Focusing on connection and signposting—engaging people through presence, conversation, listening and signposting to grassroots, public, and community-based support services where appropriate. The work will be carried out with shared responsibility. February holds layered meaning. It is Reggae Month, with the 2026 theme Rhythms of Resilience, and 6 February also marks the birthday of Bob Marley, whose message of One Love speaks to unity, shared responsibility, and connection. February also includes Valentine’s, held here as love in action — care, compassion, and kindness. On 22 December 2025, a Community Reach Out took place involving Serene One, Rise Together Alliance, and business organisations. People came together with the understanding that behind a smile or a laugh, we do not always know what someone is carrying. That experience highlighted the need for this work. Often, the question asked is, “What is it you’re doing?” or “What would you like us to do?”* *Here, that question is reversed. Those who feel connected are invited to consider what they can bring and what ideas they are moved to share in response to what is happening in the community.* The approach is not fixed to a single location, a single day, or a single way of working. It can be replicated creatively across Brent, shaped by local ideas, relationships, and community needs. All activities must be carried out with safeguarding, clear boundaries, and responsibility in mind. |
