Public Message – County Lines Awareness Week 02/03/2026-09/03/2026 What are County Lines? County lines is a term used to describe organised drug networks that use mobile phone lines to traffic drugs into towns and rural areas. These groups often exploit children and vulnerable adults to move drugs or money on their behalf. This exploitation can involve grooming, threats, violence, and intimidation. What to Look Out For: Members of the public can help by being aware of signs that someone may be at risk, including: Unexplained money, gifts, or new possessionsGoing missing from home or schoolSudden changes in behaviour or friendshipsIncreased secrecy around phone useUnknown adults hanging around a young personA child travelling far from home unexpectedlyOur Local Response: Over the coming weeks, the Northallerton Neighbourhood Police Team will be visiting schools and other locations in and around Northallerton.
