Gold thefts.

GMP have noticed some recent Gold Thefts happening at our residents homes.  Keep yourselves and your homes safe with some of the following crime prevention advise. 

Take photos of your valuables. Good clear images of all items can help us trace your valuables. Keep an inventory, and update insurance details when you add new items. 

Do you have a safe? or house alarm?

Can your jewellery be stored in a safety deposit box?  

Install CCTV, motion activated security lights and burglar alarm systems. 

Always lock windows and doors.

Avoid ‘common’ hiding places, such as, underwear draws, wardrobes or under the bed - these are the first places burglars will look!

Are you community minded? do you notice cars on the street? Be aware of suspicious vehicles or unknown people who may be scouting  addresses. Always report suspicious activity! 

Use things like light timers if you work late in the evening so it looks like someone is home. 

Don't tell family or friends where you store your items.

Be careful talking about events in places with strangers, you never know who is listening! This can also include social media - check your setting and only share events with people you know. 

If you are a victim of a burglary, always inform the police at the earliest opportunity!
