Officers in Stevenage are appealing for witnesses and information following a suspected arson in the town. On Tuesday 27 January at around 8.15pm, it was reported that a vehicle parked by a house in Iona Close had been set on fire by an unknown man. The fire then spread from the Renault Clio to a Peugeot 2008, that was parked beside it in an off road parking bay near a property. Fire officers attended the address and extinguished the fire. Investigating officer PC Harry Histed said: “We believe this was a deliberate act and are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anyone behaving suspiciously or captured anything on their security cameras, to get in touch. “Fortunately, no one was injured and the blaze was quickly brought under control before it spread any further. However, this situation could easily have been much worse.” Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Harry Histed via email at Harry.Histed@herts.police.uk You can also report online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/8478/26. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. | ||||||
