Dear Resident
Police Aware of the ongoing Vehicle Crime Series in the Rushden area – Northants Police are still running Operation PROW.
Northamptonshire Police are aware of the recent series of vehicle crime incidents in the Rushden area occurring during hours of darkness, and officers are actively responding through Operation PROW – our dedicated operation to identify offenders, protect property, and reassure the community. Officers are:
· Deploying to the areas with the highest number of incidents · Conducting targeted nightly patrols to gather intelligence · Working to identify and apprehend offenders · Providing reassurance and crime prevention advice to residents via additional Police Beatbus surgeries in the local area.
We are asking residents to support our efforts by taking the following steps:
Secure your vehicle & remove all valuables Please ensure vehicles are locked, windows are fully closed, and valuables are removed or kept out of sight. A significant number of recent incidents have involved insecure vehicles. These are opportunists and will target vulnerable vehicles.
Check CCTV & Dashcams If you live in or regularly travel through the affected areas and have: · CCTV · Video doorbells · Dashcam recordings …please review your footage and report anything suspicious to us. Any small detail could help progress ongoing enquiries. You can report via: · 101 · Northamptonshire Police website · 999 in an emergency - if you see something suspicious - REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY
Your information and vigilance are vital in helping us bring the offenders to justice and reduce further incidents. If you see suspicious activity, please report it immediately so we can act swiftly. Many thanks
You can also pass on information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. There are some simple but effective things you can do to help protect your vehicle: · Park your car in a garage or driveway if possible, or on a busy, well-lit road. Choose a ParkMark® accredited public car park wherever possible · Never leave anything on display in your car. The cost to repair damage to the vehicle will usually exceed the value of the theft · Drivers of some Toyota and Honda vehicles and some 4 x 4’s should install measures to deter theft of catalytic converts e.g Catloc | Catalytic Convertor Theft Protection Further security tips and crime prevention advice can be found on the Northamptonshire Police website and on the Neighbourhood Watch website.
