Officers are continuing to carry out a number of Bus and Discuss patrols around Telford, where the public can raise any concerns they have when using public transport.
Yesterday (Monday 9 February) Senior PCSO Katy Balaam caught the number 4 bus from Madeley to Telford Town Centre, where she spoke to a number of people, offering advice and reassurance.
Catching the number 4 bus comes after officers received a report from a woman about four men acting suspiciously while using the bus last Monday (2 February). Officers from the Woodside and Madeley Safer Neighbourhood Team are also carrying out a number of enquiries to better understand what happened, and are working closely with the victim.
The Bus and Discuss initiative was launched in November 2024 after a survey carried out by Telford & Wrekin Council found a percentage of women and girls feel unsafe at bus stops in the town. Working alongside the council and Arriva regular patrols are now carried out on the town’s bus network.
