Please see attached a screenshot taken from Dacorum Borough Council's Facebook page regarding cold callers who have recently been reported calling on people to read their meters as they may have been overcharged. I understand that this may have also been happening in our Ward.
Please see that these individuals were not endorsed by Dacorum Borough Council.
Unless you have prebooked a visit from anyone to visit your property please ensure you always ask for identification and ask them to wait outside while you check their ID by phoning your energy provider (using a number that you have on your energy bill) or whatever company they claim to be from. If they are genuine, they will be happy for you to do this. Do not use a phone number provided by them.
If in any doubt do not open the door or let anyone in your property.
