I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Drugs and related issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Good Evening All,

Earlier on this week, whilst on foot patrol in Halesworth, Officers from the CPT stopped and searched 2 individuals under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act and cannabis was found on one person. The Cannabis has been seized for destruction, the person interviewed for the offence and given an out of court disposal to engage in set conditions given by Police.

County lines is the name given to drug dealing where organised criminal groups (OCGs) use phone lines to move and supply drugs, usually from cities into smaller towns and rural areas.

They exploit vulnerable people, including children and those with mental health or addiction issues, by recruiting them to distribute the drugs. This is often referred to as ‘drug running’. Criminals may also use a vulnerable person’s home as their base of operations. This is known as ‘cuckooing’.
