SHOPLIFTING OFFENCES ARE FALLING... |
||
|
Shoplifting offences are falling and more offenders are being dealt with as part of our problem-solving approach across Staffordshire.
We’ve spent more than 13,000 hours of overtime patrolling town centres and public spaces in the county between May 2025 and January 2026, alongside investing in 53 additional neighbourhood officers.
This has seen neighbourhood crime fall by 13 per cent this year, including shoplifting offences.
In the last year, shoplifting has fallen by nine per cent, while positive outcomes have increased by more than two per cent. This means that more offenders are being taken to court and less offences are happening across businesses in local communities.
It’s one of the many ways we’re strengthening our footprint on the beat, putting more officers in towns and cities, increasing visibility and tackling crime on a proactive basis.
