Look Up! Look Out!

I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Whilst out and about enjoying your days/ evenings please remember to be aware of your surroundings. There has been a recent re-emergence of people being approached and asked about their social media, ETC, to prompt them to get their phone out from their bag or pocket, before snatching it and running away.

If someone you don't know approaches you and engages you in a conversation that will encourage you to get your phone out, walk away. If your phone is unlocked when it is stolen, it is more than just your contacts that they have access to.

This is an issue we are investigating and are working on identifying those responsible. If you or someone you know has been a victim of this you can report it on the Metropolitan police website or by calling 101.
