Weekly Round-up! |
||||||||||||
Good evening Resident,
Sometimes we take for granted the quiet days because when it gets louder, It really can go off with a bang! It has been a very busy week for all three teams on the city centre, whether we have been dealing with an unruly NTE shift or searching for a missing person we are ready and raring to go. Regardless of all that's been going on I've made sure to get the weekly update out to the residents of Wolverhampton.
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – Let's crack on and tell you all about the 11 arrests made on the city this week with joint efforts from city centre officers, PCSOs and even the outer sectors making all of this happen. Individuals were arrested this week for a variety of offences including; One arrest for a breach of a community order, another for possession of a bladed article and one for a recall to prison. Team 3 dealt with a drink driver, arrested an individual for common assault through domestic violence and a racially aggravated common assault occurring on a bus. The other five arrests made this week were for a common assault and hate crime related assault, drunk and disorderly, an Electronic Monitoring Service breach by once again not charging their tag device, one for coercive and controlling behaviour and finally a simple arrest for theft and recall to prison. Well done to all officers involved.
Community Engagement – First off i would like to congratulate the winner of the community colouring competition from Valentines Day, the winner was picked by Sergeant Stanley from the neighbourhood teams and she was contacted to come and collect her prize.
PC McKinnon joined by other officers this week down at The Way youth centre to host a taster session showing what we do, he was joined by Drone units and had a decent turnout with many of the kids having fun finding out more about West Midlands Police. Sergeant Lewandowski, PC Tatchell and PC Brooks all paid a visit to the University to deliver a talk on all things VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls). They were joined by staff at The Haven to have a chat with a group about how to get support and what WMP do in relation to Domestic Violence etc. The talks were received very well and we had positive feedback from all parties involved!
Lastly, PCSOs Spittle and Holmes both attended a Cuppa with a Copper session at Costa Coffee to a decent turnout. Guardian Patrols – Business as usual with our patrols this week, joined by Guardian Task Force officers once again. Regular patrols were carried out around high footfall areas such as Dudley street, the Bus Station and the Train Station.
Night-Time Economy – Team 3 had the pleasure of dealing with the NTE patrols this week. On Friday night, even with the low footfall due to inclement weather, 3 arrests were made which are detailed in the section above, and a knife was also recovered by officers near to the Gorgeous Nightclub just before they opened. Saturday night did seem to be a lot busier with 2 arrests made and after a few calls to service for the same individuals, a large group of youths were spoken to about their behaviour in the city and how it could be considered Anti-Social, after being spoken to the group dispersed and went about their evening. Additionally, some of our officers went on patrols with licensing to different venues within the city centre to carry out premises checks.
Other News - Two officers headed out on arrests attempts for the day, all in relation to Domestic Assault offenders. A shoplifter was stopped in the Mander Centre and returned to Matalan, where they were made to pay for the items they had attempted to steal. A prolific shoplifter within the city was followed around multiple stores by PCSOs in his attempts to steal items. After failing at his exploits he promptly left the city and went home, only to be arrested the following day on a recall to prison. A burglary occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning at KOKORO on Queen Street, whereby an individual has gained entry and stolen a cash register. How disappointed do you think they felt when they realised that KOKORO are a cashless establishment? Enquiries are ongoing with regards to this incident.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you look forward to the next one!
