Op Recall - Livestock Worrying |
The Rural Crime Team and Warwick Rural East Safer-Neighbourhood Team have been out this morning on foot patrols around Old Milverton and Wappenbury, with regards to Op Recall. Op Recall is a national initiative to raise awareness around livestock worrying. We have been speaking with members of the public about the importance of keeping their dogs on a lead and under control around livestock. Thank you to the members of the community we spoke to. What is livestock worrying? This is when a dog is not under control in an area where livestock are present. A dog doesn't have to make contact with an animal, it includes chasing and racing about. Livestock have been known to have broken their limbs, suffocated, had a cardiac arrest, aborted their unborn, or suffered later when giving birth after being chased by a dog. How can you help? If you have livestock and would like a “Dog on Lead” sign then please email the team on RuralCrimeTeam@warwickshire.police.uk.
Please report any incidents via 101/www.warwickshire.police.uk and always 999 in an emergency. Kind regards
Rural Crime Team
