Dispersal Zone

Good afternoon residents of Northumberland Park and Bruce Castle Wards,

This morning, I authorised a Section 35 Dispersal Zone covering the entirety of both Northumberland Park and Bruce Castle wards. This order is active from 12:00 today until 23:00.

This decision follows concerns raised by schools and parents regarding online messages encouraging inter‑school fights, which have recently featured in national media. Although no confirmed incidents have taken place so far, it is important that we take steps to safeguard children and school staff across the area.

The dispersal zone provides police with the legal power to move on any large groups causing intimidation or anti‑social behaviour. It also allows officers to escort young people home or to a place of safety if necessary, helping us prevent harm before it occurs.

Throughout the afternoon and evening, you will see increased police patrols around schools, transport hubs, parks, and other local gathering points.
