I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. MET Police Fight Against Drugs is Real. MET Police officers come across Drug Dealers and Drug suppliers every day. However, to get them convicted, it requires solid evidential chain. Here local resident can act as catalyst to the evidential chain by providing the vital information of Drug dealing activities taking place in their Ward to their local Safer Neibourhood Officers also known as the Dedicated Ward Officers. Last Month on the 09th of Feb 2026, North Hanwell Dedicated Ward Officers, alongside MET dog Unit and other teams executed a Premises Search Warrant under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, on Bordars Road Hanwell . This Court Warrant - authorises police to enter and search specific locations based on reasonable suspicion of controlled substances or related documents. Here PC PREMi and his SNT team colleagues made a clear statement that Drugs dealing/s will be not tolerated by the SNT team in their Ward and they will knock the doors if needed to be to curb the problem and apprehend the perpetrators. In the process they will ensure to use all tools and resources available to them. PC PREMi highlighted in his previous Community Engagement meetings with residents, that Drug dealing in the ward will be dealt swiftly before it becomes a major problem in the North Hanwell Ward. He requested the local residents and stakeholders to report the incidents of drug dealing/s with confidence via 101 or on MET Website as online. They can even contact their Dedicated Ward Officers or SNT Team via MET Engage. . He also informed for officer to apply for Premises Search Warrant application/s via the Magistrates Court and having it to be GRANTED does take time and requires accurate information and layers of evidence chain to satisfy the courts proceedings; but this does not means that Police and in particular their SNT team or Dedicated Ward Officers are slow or not doing anything. He assured the resident any information received from the member of public is placed on the Police Systems and processed by the dedicated team. It helps to build a case on who are the users, who are the paddlers/ dealers and who are the suppliers of the drugs. Yes North Hanwell is very safe area compare to its neighbouring Wards, however any Drugs activity will be taken very seriously and Dedicated Ward Officers will investigate, and gather intelligence by various sources and will run other operations or make use of other resources in hand. Thorough this Police can make choices of how to tackle the problem and ensure the perpetrators are presented in court to face the LAW. Police play an essential role in disturbing the drug dealings and drug trade, but challenges Police faces are getting ever complex and ever changing. Successful law enforcement efforts depend on collaboration with other agencies; legal frame works and most crucial via community engagement. Drugs market is ever evolving and technology available is vast for the criminals to use to promote their Drugs, hence as Dedicated Ward Officer/s, we will adopt new measures and tactics like electronic surveillances and others to continue to protect public safety and to reduce the harms caused by the drugs and dealings in the local area.
