Stay vigilant against counterfeit notes |

|
We are asking everyone to be vigilant when it comes to checking bank notes. This comes following the arrest of a 39-year-old man for knowingly using suspected counterfeit notes to attempt to pay for items in the Skegness area. We received multiple reports of a man allegedly using suspected counterfeit £20 notes to purchase items from various shops on Lumley Road and Grand Parade from January to February this year. Officers arrested the 39-year-old man on Friday 27 February on suspicion of knowingly using a counterfeit note. He was also arrested for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) and has been released on bail. During a search, officers also found the man to be in possession of more suspected fake £20 notes, which were seized and sent to the National Crime Agency (NCA) for verification. A search of a property on Grosvenor Road also found a number of items used to make the counterfeit notes appear genuine and a 56-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of having control of a thing to make counterfeit currency notes with intent. He has also been released on bail. Inquiries are still ongoing. Stay vigilantWe are asking everyone to be vigilant when it comes to checking notes and to report to us if you come across any money you believe is counterfeit.
