Sproughton - Lorry driver seriously injured following A14 collision |
||
|
Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision involving two lorries on the A14 at Sproughton.
Police were called at approximately 7:35pm yesterday, Tuesday 3 March, to reports of a collision on the westbound carriageway.
Police, Suffolk Fire & Rescue, the ambulance service and air ambulance attended the scene.
One of the lorry drivers, a man aged in his 60s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Addenbrookes’ Hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The other driver, a man aged in his 40s, sustained minor injuries.
The road was closed in both directions between Copdock and Whitehouse, with the eastbound carriageway reopening shortly after 12:35am today, Wednesday 4 March.
The westbound carriageway remains closed between Sproughton and Whitehouse and is expected to remain closed for several hours.
This is to allow for recovery of vehicles involved, and to allow Highways England to assess the condition of the road following a fuel spill as result the collision.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and are asking motorists driving in the area around the time of the collision with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
