Hi everyone! As your local Valentines Officer , I want to remind you to stay vigilant and protect your vehicles. We have seen a rise in theft from motor vehicles in our area, and we want to make sure you are not the next victim! Always lock your vehicle every single time, even if you are only stepping away for a minute, and never leave your engine running unattended. Make sure you never leave bags, wallets, phones, laptops or any valuables inside your vehicle — even if they are hidden. Remember, if a thief can see a bag, they will smash to grab it. This also includes loose change, chargers, sunglasses and shopping bags. Don't give thieves any motivation! When parking, try to choose well-lit, busy areas or CCTV-covered car parks, especially at night. Be mindful that if someone has seen you place items in your boot, it does not make them safe — thieves are watching! If you have a keyless car, keep your key fobs in a signal-blocking pouch (Faraday pouch) at home to prevent relay theft. A visible dashcam is also a great idea as it can deter thieves and provide vital evidence if something does happen. If you see anything suspicious around vehicles, please do not hesitate to report it. Call 999 in an emergency, 101 for non-emergency, or report anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Your information could prevent the next crime! Together we can keep Valentines ward safe. Please click here to complete the survey
