We’re seeing more and more vehicles driving at night or in poor visibility with only sidelights or daytime running lights (DRLs). Many drivers don’t realise their automatic headlight settings don’t always activate in low‑light conditions – especially on well‑lit streets, at dusk, or in fog and rain.

❗ Driving without proper headlights is extremely dangerous.
DRLs do not illuminate the road ahead, and often don’t activate rear lights at all. This means other road users may struggle to see you until it’s too late.

❗ It’s also an offence to drive at night or in reduced visibility without fully working and correctly switched‑on headlights. You could face:
