I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Just a brief update
We've had two reports of burglaries on the ward these past few days.
CHURCH AVENUE - A property was broken into via the rear window on the 08th March 2026. Suspects managed to steal two sets of different car keys, and as a result, a Mercedes parked on the driveway was stolen. Later, cctv enquiries revealed this vehicle being stolen at approximately 02:04hrs. Bank cards were also stolen. The team will be looking at doing a street briefing in Church Avenue in the coming weeks. Dates/times TBC.
WARWICK ROAD - Sometime overnight on the 07th March we had an attempted burglary, whereby trellis had been knocked off from the top of the side gate as well more trellis laying on the floor by the rear wall in the garden. Victim also noted the rear door handle facing downwards however, no entry was gained.
On a slightly different note, we also had a Lexus stolen from Knoll Road between 05th-07th March.
The team will be making further enquiries in relation to these incidents during the course of this week.
While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you: Double lock your door every time you leave the house If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access. Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows. Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through. If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house. Make sure all valuables are out of sight. Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps. In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on. Set your burglar alarm Lock your shed or garage Mark, register or record your valuables.
