Today is National child exploitation awareness day. 

Child exploitation is a form of abuse. It is when children are manipulated, coerced, threatened or groomed into sexual or criminal activity.

We all have a part to play in disrupting exploitation. You can help by noticing change, recognising harm early and building trust. 

Every interaction is an opportunity to notice change, build trust and recognise harm early. 

Spot the signs: 

unexplained money or gifts

missing episodes

withdrawn behaviour

increased secrecy

excessive texts or phone calls - often secretly or unexplained

reluctance to discuss who they are socialising with

getting into cars or taxis with older people whom they are not related to

physical signs such as bruising or self-harm

drinking or taking drugs with adults

travelling long distance alone
